PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEAMS

Build your team’s ability to influence decisions and turn strategy into action.

Your organisation’s ambitions depend on what your people can make happen.

Winning business. Securing support for a recommendation. Negotiating an agreement. Leading change. Helping others understand the value of a complex idea.

Each requires people who can think strategically, build a persuasive case and communicate with clarity.

Full & Frank delivers customised professional development across strategy, persuasion and leadership — helping your people develop the judgement and practical skills to advance your organisation’s priorities.

Led by Juanita Wheeler, each engagement is shaped around your team, the situations they face and what you need them to be better equipped to do.

What do you need your people to be better equipped to do?

Perhaps your team has strong technical expertise, but their recommendations aren’t getting the support they deserve.

Perhaps emerging leaders need to contribute with greater confidence, handle challenging conversations or bring others with them through change.

Perhaps winning the next contract depends on how well your people understand the decision-makers, build their case and negotiate.

Professional development becomes more valuable when it connects directly to the situations your people face — and gives them approaches they can apply in their work.

We start with your priorities, then shape the engagement around the capability your team needs to develop.

Develop the skills your priorities demand

An engagement may focus on one area or bring together related skills around a defined business need.

Persuasion and influencing decision-makers

Understand whose support matters, what informs their decisions and how to build a case they can say yes to. Identify assumptions, strengthen evidence and address the barriers to action.

Strategic communication

Decide what a conversation, presentation or piece of communication needs to achieve. Make complex ideas clear, relevant and compelling for the people who need to understand or act on them.

Leadership communication

Communicate direction, explain decisions and engage people in what comes next. Develop the skills to contribute in senior forums, navigate challenging conversations and lead with clarity.

Negotiation

Prepare with a clearer understanding of objectives, interests, options and risks. Develop arguments, plan concessions and strengthen the judgement needed to navigate the conversation.

Presenting, pitching and speaking with impact

Shape a presentation around the decision or action it needs to support. Build a strong argument, structure the message and develop the delivery skills to communicate it effectively.

Programs can also be tailored for women in leadership, emerging leaders and teams whose specialist expertise needs to influence people beyond their own discipline.

High-performing teams and culture

Strengthen how your people work together, build alignment and contribute to the culture your organisation needs to achieve its priorities.

Stronger foundations for strategic planning

Help boards and executive teams begin the strategic planning process with stronger questions, clearer priorities and greater alignment.

Choose the depth your team needs

The right format depends on what you want participants to learn, practise and apply.

90-minute sessions

A focused skill or a high-level introduction.

A 90-minute session can develop understanding of one specific skill — such as introducing yourself with confidence — or introduce the key principles of a broader subject.

It offers a concentrated learning opportunity with practical takeaways suited to the scope.

Half-day programs

More depth, with time to put the learning to work.

A half-day program creates space to explore a defined subject in greater detail, work through practical strategies and apply them to relevant situations.

Participants have more opportunity to examine their approach, practise and identify what they can change in their work.

Full-day programs

Deeper development, with time for practice and application.

A full-day program allows more substantial exploration of a subject or a connected set of skills, with time for exercises, discussion, feedback and application.

Where possible, we deliver this as two half-day sessions, with up to a week between them. Participants can consider and reflect on the learning, try introduced concepts in their work, and bring their experiences and questions into the second session.

A single full day can be ideal when your team is already coming together for a conference or training program. The development can form part of that program, or be delivered exclusively for your team as an additional day — making the most of existing travel arrangements to invest in their capability.

Shaped around your organisation

We begin by discussing what your organisation needs to achieve, who will participate and where stronger capability could make a meaningful difference.

That informs the focus, format and level of the engagement.

Relevant scenarios and examples help participants connect the learning to their own responsibilities. The aim is for people to understand the principles, recognise when to use them and leave better equipped to apply them.

For deeper leadership development, an initial intensive can be followed by ongoing 1:1 coaching and advisory support for members of the leadership team — tailored to the organisation’s priorities and each individual’s opportunities for growth. Multi-day and linked multi-session programs can also be scoped to suit the engagement.

Based in Brisbane, Juanita works with clients across Australia and around the world, online and in person, and travels nationally and internationally for client engagements, including team professional development.
